Fantasy Masquerade

It’s time to dress in your finest and step on the dance floor.  Join us this year for the newly revamped Fantasy Masquerade (formally the Cosplay Ball). Here’s everything you need to know:

  • When: Friday, April 26th, 2024, 8 p.m. – 9 p.m.
  • Where: Causeacon Main Stage

Formal wear is expected and cosplay/costumes are strongly recommended. We understand that not all formal wear options work for every cosplay, so be sure to chose attire and outfits that fit into a formal or ball theme as best you can. Please review the guidelines below as dress code will be enforced.

Fantasy Masquerade Event Guidelines:

  • All Traditional styles of formal attire are encouraged as well as theme appropriate costumes and/or outfits.
  • Formal attire suggestions: Cocktail dresses and gowns, black tie formal wear, suits, top hat and tails, fancy dresses, prom dresses, ball gowns, dressy separates, button down shirts, dress slacks, traditional Scottish kilts, appropriate military attire, formal historic period wear, traditional eastern dress, appropriate formal military attire, fantasy inspired formal attire, formal J-Fashion, and formal alternative/street fashion.
    • We consider inappropriate military attire to be uniforms that are associated with discrimination and hate. This type of attire is barred from the event.
    • Inappropriate attire includes: T-shirts, shorts, jeans, overly revealing clothing, fully exposed chests (male or female), no sheer material over bare chests (male or female), rave gear, full armor, duct tape, unsealed body paint.
  • Cosplay from any genre is absolutely welcome, but we prefer it still be formal attire. You are welcome to create your own interpretation of what formal wear for your cosplay would look like, so have fun.
  • Traditional masquerade style masks.  All participants are encouraged to wear a Masquerade-style mask. You may attach your mask to your face with ribbons, elastic, body adhesive, spirit gum, etc., or it may be a stick mask that you hold in front of your face. You may also use face paint to create a painted mask.
  • Props and wings are allowed into the event, but for safety reasons props are not allowed on the dance floor.  Wings are allowed on the dance floor, but please be mindful of the people around you.
  • You will be responsible for items that you leave unattended – so don’t leave anything unattended that you don’t want stolen or lost.

So what does all this mean? Here’s an example:

  • Wearing a Deadpool suit – Not enough.
  • Wearing a tux over your Deadpool suit – you’re in! (But seriously, drink a lot of water.)
